Golden Baseball League Announces New Official Bases
Published on August 1, 2006 under Golden Baseball League (GBL) News Release
(Pleasanton, CA. August 1, 2006) The Golden Baseball League announced today plans to utilize golden bases for the remainder of the season and throughout the playoffs. The new bases will debut today prior to games in Long Beach, San Diego and Yuma.
The league has had tremendous response from prospective sponsors, including jewelers, gold companies, paint companies, a retirement community and chain of workout gymnasiums. A multi-year partner will be selected soon.
First, second and third base will be changed during a pre-game ceremony to reflect the new golden color with fans participating in the activity. Home plate will remain white to clearly delineate the strike zone.
"This is a continuation of the innovative marketing value that we strive to deliver to our business partners," said Dave Kaval, CEO of the Golden Baseball League. "League presenting sponsorship with Safeway, uniform patches with Sierra Life Sciences, helmet stickers with XL Security, team bus wraps with Downey Savings and a number of Indian Casinos, and joint marketing with our baseball equipment suppliers are previous examples of unique sponsorship opportunities that we have already implemented."
In addition to the standard minor league fare of giveaways, promotions, fireworks and entertainment acts, more industry leading sponsorship opportunities are under development and will be made available soon. Team naming rights similar to professional baseball in Japan, on-field sponsor placement similar to NCAA bowl games, and complete stadium-buyouts, where all advertising in a ballpark is sponsored by a single partner, will be offered at the end of this season for 2007.
"As we add new teams for 2007, we will have approximately 750,000 fans at our games next season, and many more who tune in to our radio, television, and internet broadcasts," said Kaval. "We want to give our business partners effective and fun ways to reach these potential customers while improving the experience for our fans as well."
