
Fudge Named IFL Rookie of the Year

The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced on Monday the winners of the league?s individual awards. Awards were given for MVP, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year. Wichita running back Darius Fudge was recognized as the IFL?s Offensive Rookie of the Year for his performance during the regular season.
Fudge led the IFL in rushing yards with 936 and rushing touchdowns with 31. Fudge won the league rushing title by over 120 yards as the next closest back had 812 yards on the season. He is only the sixth player in the history of indoor football to rush for over 900 yards and 30 TD?s in the same season. Fudge was named IFL Offensive Player of the Week twice during the season.
A trio of Billings Outlaws were recognized by the IFL with quarterback Chris Dixon being named MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, defensive lineman Michael Landry was recognized as Defensive Player of the Year, and defensive back Michael Eby won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Alaska kick returner Demarcus James was named Special Teams Player of the Year and El Paso Head Coach Brian Brents was named Coach of the Year.
The Wild will continue their quest for the United Bowl trophy on Saturday, July 18 as they head to Bloomington, IL in the first round of the IFL Playoffs.
