GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Frostbite, members of the United Hockey League, announced today that the team has re-signed goaltender Derek Gustafson. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Last season, the 26-year-old appeared in 57 games posting a 32-18-6 record to go along with a 2.83 goals against average and a save percentage of .899. His four shutouts were tied for fourth in the UHL, and is all-time Adirondack UHL record. Gustafson appeared in the 2005 UHL All-Star Classic on his home ice.

Gustafson spent the 2003-04 season with the ECHL's Louisiana IceGators, where he was runner-up for the league's goaltender of the year award, posting a 28-14-0 record and a 2.09 goals against average. He spent the majority of the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons with the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros, helping the team to the 2003 AHL title. Gustafson has appeared in a total of five NHL games with the Minnesota Wild, with a 1-3-0 record and a 2.26 goals against average. He picked up his lone NHL win on March 9, 2001 with a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders.

In 217 career professional games, Gustafson has a record of 117-73-15 to go along with a 2.63 goals against average and a save percentage of .906.

"Ensuring Derek's return was certainly a priority of ours this off-season," Frostbite Head Coach and General Manager Marc Potvin said. "He has proven himself to be one of the league's top goaltenders, and he always provides us with a chance to win."

Adirondack opens the 2005-2006 season on Friday, October 22 with a road date at Richmond. The Frostbite open the home portion of the schedule on Saturday, October 23, also against the RiverDogs.
