
Fronts get drop on Majors, 6-2

Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Kingston, Ont. (Friday, Dec. 8, 2006) - The St. Michael's Majors visited the Kingston Frontenacs this evening and were given a rude welcome by the home squad. The Frontenacs built up a 2-1 lead through one period of play, due mainly to a 23-7 shot advantage, and ended up winning the game by a 6-2 margin. As a result, the Majors record moves to 12-18-1-1 on the year.
Peder Skinner provided the first goal of the game for the Frontenacs 2:05 into the affair off of Bobby Nyholm and Adam Nemeth feeds. The Majors tied it up at 12:40 when Matt Caria notched a shorthanded tally. However, the home squad jumped back out in front just under a minute later when Bobby Hughes and Cory Emmerton set up Chris Stewart's power-play tally.
Kingston then got on a roll in the middle frame with four consecutive goals at 0:34, 8:58, 11:32 (shorthanded) and 14:03. The goalscorers were Hughes, Skinner, Emmerton and Bobby Bolt while the helpers were credited to Emmerton, Stewart, Hughes, Bolt, Nyholm, Nemeth, Skinner and Ben Shutron (2).
Justin Donati provided a second goal for the Majors at 15:08, on the power-play, off of Rob Kwiet and Matt McCready feeds. However, that's as close as St. Mike's could get.
Wayne Savage got the start in goal for the Majors and made 28 saves before being replaced by Chris Carrozzi during the 2nd period. Carrozzi finished the night with 15 stops while Kingston's Jason Guy produced 29. The Majors were 1 for 6 on the man-advantage while the Frontenacs were 1 for 11. The game's three stars were Emmerton, Skinner and Nyholm.
The Majors finish the weekend by hosting the Guelph Storm on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Storm currently sit 4th in the OHL's Midwest Division with a 13-13-1-3 record.
