Kansas City Outlaws News Release
(Kansas City, MO --- October 4, 2004) â Kansas City taxi driver James Webb, Olathe's Josh Pope, and Overland Park's Tony Arkeilpane and Mark Uvodich all share the same dream of playing professional hockey. Their pursuit begins Monday, October 4 through Saturday, October 9 (schedule below) at the inaugural training camp for their hometown Kansas City Outlaws at the team practice rink Ice Sports in Shawnee, KS (19900 Johnson Drive). The final 20-man roster will be finalized on Sunday, October 10.
Webb (goalie), a 40-year-old cab drive who resides in Kansas City, was recruited to tryout for the Outlaws by former Kansas City Blade Jeff MaDill during a local summer league in 2004. Webb has bounced around numerous semi-pro hockey organizations in the United States in addition to a short stint with a professional minor league team in Madison, WI (Madison Monsters of the Colonial League) all throughout an illustrious cab-driving career.
Uvodich (forward), a graduate of Blue Valley Northwest, recently completed a success career at Division I St. Louis University. Pope (goalie), who finished a star-studded high school career at Olathe East as class of 2004, is trying to jump straight from high school to the professional ranks in his hometown. The final KC connection is Arkeilpane (forward), who now resides in Overland Park after a successful Division I hockey life at Ohio University.
The other 51 potential Outlaws have traveled as far as the Czech Republic and Ukraine in Europe to Newfoundland and Alberta in Canada to make the 20-man roster for newest pro team in Kansas City.
