EVERETT, Wash. -- The Everett AquaSox (19-14, 35-36) won their final home game of the regular season with a comeback 5-3 victory to avoid a five-game sweep at the hands of the Yakima Bears (17-16, 30-41), keeping them a game back of the Eugene Emeralds in the West Division with five games left in the season.

The Frogs responded to three runs by the Bears in the fourth with five runs in the bottom of the inning, scoring their first three runs on a throwing error by Yakima shortstop Raul Navarro that rolled all the way to the Bears bullpen on a bases loaded fielder's choice by center-fielder Jarrett Burgess.

Shortstop Marcus Littlewood stepped up to plate next and belted a two-run shot to center field giving the Sox a lead for only the second time in the series. The homer moved Littlewood into sixth place in home runs in the Northwest League, making the AquaSox the only team with three of the top six home run hitters in the league.

The Bears got on the scoreboard first, which they did in all five games in the series, on a three-run homer by right-fielder Justin Hilt for his team leading tenth shot of the season. It was the first earned runs Sox starter Cameron Hobson had given up in his last 13 innings, and made Hilt only the fourth player in the league this year to get to double digit homers.

Everett reliever Kyle Hunter came in after the fifth inning and went four scoreless innings to seal the win for the Sox, snapping their five-game losing streak. It was the fourth time Hunter has pitched at least three scoreless innings in relief since joining the team earlier this month.

After completing the series with Yakima, Everett will now root for the Bears as Yakima begins a five-game series with Eugene starting Tuesday. The Frogs will begin their final series of the season in Spokane on August 30 as they send out right-hander Stephen Landazuri (4-4, 4.82 ERA) against Indians lefty Kevin Matthews (0-2, 2.87 ERA) at 6:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1380 KRKO.
