Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders earned their second consecutive shutout win, as they began a six-game series against the San Antonio Missions with an 11-0 victory at Nelson W. Wolff Stadium Monday night. RoughRiders pitching has held opponents to three runs in their last 36 innings and picked up three shutout wins in their last four games.

Monday's win marks the second consecutive shutout win, the first time a RoughRiders team has accomplished this feat since April 22-23, 2019 against Arkansas.

Left fielder Dustin Harris led the offense with a team-high three hits for his sixth three-hit outing this year. Designated hitter Blaine Crim and second baseman Justin Foscue each drove two runs across in the Monday win.

With the Riders win in San Antonio Monday night, Frisco is 7-0 in 2022 against the Missions at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.

Frisco starter Avery Weems began the shutout effort with four innings and struck out five. Riders reliever Tai Tiedemann (4-1) contributed the next two innings and gave up no runs by stranding four runners aboard.

Missions starter Nolan Watson (1-4) walked four batters in his three innings of work and was responsible for four runs on four hits.

The Riders began with steady work of offense and scored first in the top of the second on an RBI single from first baseman Trey Hair to take an early 1-0 lead. Frisco tallied another run in the ensuing frame on an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Kellen Strahm, scoring Harris from third and doubling the Riders lead in the third, 2-0.

The Riders scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning, beginning with an RBI single from Foscue to score Hair with the bases loaded. Crim drove in a pair of runs with a line drive to left field, scoring Harris and center fielder Josh Stowers to give Frisco a 5-0 advantage.

With the bases loaded in the fourth, catcher David Garcia reached on an infield single, scoring Foscue from third. Crim and Strahm also came in to score on a throwing error to first, clearing the bases and giving the Riders an early 8-0 lead.

Harris drove in his lone RBI in the top of the fifth to add on to the total and stretch the Frisco lead to 9-0. In the top of the seventh, Foscue doubled to right field to score Ornelas from second to carry a 10-0 lead into the ninth. Scoring ended in the top of the ninth on a Jonathan Ornelas double to bring Stowers in, finishing the scoring at 11-0.

The RoughRiders play their eighth consecutive game Tuesday night as the Missions host Frisco in game two of a six-game series, first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. LHP Cody Bradford (5-5, 6.44) takes the mound for his 15th start Tuesday night, and will be opposed by Missions RHP Brandon Komar (1-4, 4.28 ERA).
