Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - Fridays will once again be all red at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park during the upcoming Charleston RiverDogs season as the popular family-friendly Red Shirt Friday returns for the 2014 season with new partner ISHPI as the presenting sponsor. All fans who wear red shirts to the game on Fridays will save $1 off the purchase of their ticket at the box office. Fans will also have the opportunity to then donate that dollar to assist two military themed charities, the Folds of Honor Foundation and Canines for Veterans.

And to top things off, the RiverDogs players, manager and coaches will wear specially-made red jerseys for every Friday night's home game. And again this year, Friday's jerseys will feature a red digital camouflage touch with camouflage piping on the jersey's sleeves.

Also back this season on Fridays will be the incredibly popular "Titus the Wonder Dog" from local charity Canines for Veterans. Titus will show off his "batboy" skills and many tricks during the game.

"Fridays will again be big nights for the RiverDogs, thanks to ISHPI," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "Being able to salute and raise money for our nation's military is something that is important for us. Plus, fans can save money at the box office and still enjoy the fun and excitement that RiverDogs baseball offers every Friday night at The Joe."

"The Charleston RiverDogs are a great organization that does a lot for our community," said Noah T. Leask, ISHPI Chairman and CEO. "We are very excited to be a part of continuing the Red Shirt Fridays tradition for the community specifically devoted to helping veterans and their families. It doesn't get much better than that - great family fun, helping veterans and baseball."

As a side benefit for fans, those jerseys will be auctioned at the conclusion of the season with the proceeds benefitting the Folds of Honor Foundation and Canines for Veterans.

In addition, local distributor Southern Eagle will donate $100 to Folds of Honor for very home run hit by a RiverDogs player during a Friday game at Riley Park.

The Folds of Honor Foundation is a national charity that, through scholarships and other assistance, gives back to the spouses and children of soldiers killed or disabled in service to our country. The Folds of Honor Foundation was founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 pilot, golf course owner, PGA Professional and USGA member. A major in the Air National Guard and a decorated military aviator, Rooney has served three combat tours in Iraq.

Canines for Veterans is a local charity that provides veterans with disabilities quality trained service dogs. A nationally recognized program, Canines for Veterans is one part of the larger Canines for Service charity. Canines for Veterans is operated at the Navy Consolidated Brig in Charleston.
