Fresno FC at Colorado Springs Preview

June 1, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Fresno FC News Release

The Fresno Foxes look to end their streak of four-straight away matches in winning form when they take on Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday evening. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. PT at Weidner Field. Fresno remains unbeaten in its last three league matches, but are coming off a 1-0 heartbreaking defeat to Sacramento Republic FC in the third round of US Open Cup. It was their third match of four in 11 days, as Fresno gets back to action on just two days rest like their counterpart Switchbacks FC which also fell in extra time of its Open Cup match on Wednesday.

Colorado Springs has lost five in a row in USL play, but put up a fight against Western-Conference front-runner New Mexico United in the Open Cup. Leading the way for the Switchbacks is Jordan Burt and Shane Malcolm, who both have three goals apiece. It's the meat of the team's 10 total goals scored, which sits at the bottom of the 18-team Western Conference. On the other end, the Switchbacks have conceded 21 goals - the fourth-most of any team in the conference. For Fresno, they're on the opposite end, scoring 20 goals (ninth-best), and allowing 11 to maintain the toughest defense in the West. Netminder CJ Cochran has four clean sheets through 11 appearances for Fresno FC, who along with center backs Mickey Daly and Ramon Martin Del Campo, has played every single minute of every USL game for the Foxes. Fresno FC will look to rely on its depth in Colorado, playing without Alex Cooper, Jackson, Christian Chaney due to injuries, Jems Geffrard to international duty and Qudus Lawal who is dealing with family issues.
