North Texas Fresh News Release

FORT WORTH - For the longest time, it looked as if the Fresh that were so dominant in the beginning of the season was long gone. The Fresh haven't had a dominant win since the big win against the Oklahoma Impact; in which they won by 39 points.

That changed against New Mexico.

The Fresh came out with a defensive minded attitude and started the game with an 11 - 2 run. A scrambling full court defense kept the Rim Rockers at bay with the Fresh taking a 45 - 19 point lead at half - time.

It was a much needed win after losing by 38 points to Southeast Texas Mavericks on Thursday. It also gives a chance for the Fresh to keep momentum with a game Sunday against the Arlington Bulldogs to close out with a 2 game winning streak.

All of the Fresh players contributed well as they never took their foot off the gas, keeping the Rim Rockers from having any real chance to make a rally.

22 steals and 35 assist showed how team - oriented the Fresh played throughout the game. Every single player had at least 1 assist while 11 of the 12 had at least 1 steal.

J.R. McDougal continued his strong play defensively, but was also the top scorer for the game with 15 points. His 4 blocks was the most notable stat of the afternoon changing up shot after shot that the Rim Rockers took. Jay Bowdy, back in uniform for a third game, contributed with a double - double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, with 7 of the 12 points coming from the free throw line. A.D. Duncan also had 10 points and 12 rebounds to finish with a double - double.

North Texas Fresh takes on the Arlington Bulldogs on Sunday January 17th at Trimble Tech at 7:00 p.m. The Arlington Bulldogs are the newest ABA Travel Team and are led by the North Texas Fresh Ex - Assistant GM & Assistant Coach Aaron Evans. The Bulldogs also have Dave Smith, Ralph Johnson, Jack Lind, Zack Vanselow, and Jermarcus Williams who were previously cut in camp or released from the North Texas Fresh franchise roster earlier this year.
