Fraser Clair Reunites with Matt Thomas
July 22, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons have signed right winger Fraser Clair to a contract for the 2005-06 season. Clair played for Falcons head coach/general manager Matt Thomas when both were with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies last season.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound winger was second on the Bullies last season with a career-high 131 penalty minutes, but also showed an ability to contribute offensively by recording another career-high 33 points (10g-23a) in 55 games played. Clair will be entering his fourth professional campaign, a career which includes previous stops with a total of four ECHL clubs and a 15-game stint with the Utah Grizzlies, then of the American Hockey League, in 2002-03.
"The reason I'm coming to Fresno is to play for Matt Thomas. He helped me a lot personally last year, both offensively and defensively," said Clair. "But I'm also happy just to check-out the other side of the league. The word in the northeast is that they don't hit as much out west, but I'm hoping to change that with my gritty style of play."
"Fraser epitomizes the type of player we want in Fresno," commented Thomas. "He has great speed, a good skill level, and more importantly, he competes every night. He's the type of guy every team needs if you're going to win consistently - a great character player that demonstrates leadership both on and off the ice."
Clair is the sixth Falcons player signed for 2005-06, joining defensemen Cory Murphy and Dustin VanBallegooie, rookie forwards Brett Hammond and Scott Rozendal and goaltender Brett Jaeger.
Falcons season tickets are currently available for the 2005-06 ECHL campaign, beginning with the club's season opener on Oct. 21 against the Victoria Salmon Kings at Save Mart Center. Both full season packages (36 games) and 24-game packages include seats to the 2006 Bud Light ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition to be held at Save Mart Center on Jan. 24 and 25.
