Frank Schwindel Named Texas League Player of the Week

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - The Texas League President, Tom Kayser, announced the Texas League Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of June 20 through June 26 and INF Frank Schwindel was recognized. Schwindel is the first position player to earn the Texas League Player of the Week honor during the 2016 season.
In six games during the week of June 20 through June 26, the slugging infielder went 10-for-24 with three home runs, two doubles, and five RBI. The stretch was highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance at Tulsa on Friday, June 24 where Schwindel hit two home runs, scored three runs, and drove in two in a 7-1 victory over the Drillers. The multi-home run game was the fourth of his career and second of the season. On the season, the Livingston, New Jersey native leads the Naturals in home runs with 12, RBI with 36, and total bases with 103 while hitting .276.
Last week, the Springfield Cardinals announced that Frank Schwindel has been selected to participate in the 2016 Texas League All-Star Home Run Derby that will be held prior to the game in Springfield on Tuesday, June 28.
The award by Schwindel marks the 27th time that a position player has earned the Texas League honor with 17 of those position players being infielders. He is now the third Naturals' player to claim a Texas League honor following Pitcher of the Week awards for RHP Jake Junis for May 23 - May 29 and RHP Alec Mills for June 13 - June 19.
Northwest Arkansas is currently enjoying the Texas League All-Star Break until Thursday, June 30. The Naturals will begin a six (6) game homestand on Thursday, June 30 that will last through Tuesday, July 5. Northwest Arkansas will face the Midland RockHounds for three (3) games before welcoming the Frisco RoughRiders on Sunday, July 3.
