Four straight wins and the best start in team history

Reading, PA - For the first time, the Reading Royals have won four straight games to begin a season and the club prepares for their first road trip against Worcester and South Carolina. Reading trails Wheeling by one point in the North Division.

Head Coach Kirk MacDonald guided the squad to three consecutive overtime wins and the Royals crushed Adirondack, 9-4, Sunday at Santander Arena. Ryan Penny capped the effort with his first professional hat trick and 15 Royals had points. The team record for goals in a game is 10, accomplished in January 2002 vs. Greensboro. It was the fifth time the Royals scored at least nine goals and the first time the team hit nine 2012.

Big 3 Storylines

1) Elite from the go

The Reading Royals are off to the best start in team history (4-0-0-0) and are one of three undefeated teams in the ECHL. Prior to this season, the Royals had never started better than 2-0-0-0.

The team's best five-game start is 4-0-1-0 (9 points) in 2005-06. That same season, the Royals got off to their best ten-game start (7-2-1-0).

Wichita and South Carolina are the other two teams left without a loss and the Royals play South Carolina next week in Charleston.

2) Team Leaders

The Royals' scoring leaders shuffled Sunday when eight players achieved multi-point games. Alex Krushelnyski, Chris McCarthy and Ryan Penny lead the squad with three goals. Krushelnyski and Penny are tied with Matt Willows for a team-high six points.

Nolan Zajac is the only player to grab a point in all Reading games. Zajac is has two goals and five points this season.

Eighteen players have recorded at least a point this season.

3) To the bus!

The Royals start a five-game road trip Friday, the second-longest of the season. Reading also endures an eight-game road trip in February and March. Reading has 14 games in 30 days this November.
