Gladiators notch three wins in three games on road trip

After dropping their first four games of the 2017-18 season, the Atlanta Gladiators found the win column last week, picking up wins in each of their three games on the road against South Division rivals.

The Gladiators notched their first win of the season on Thursday with a 5-4 victory at Jacksonville. Derek Nesbitt scored a pair of goals in the win while Ben Danford (1g-1a), Thomas Frazee (2a), Alex Gacek (2a) and Chase Witala (2a) also had multi-point efforts. Patrick D'Amico notched the game-winning goal, breaking a 4-4 tie 3:23 into the final period.

On Saturday, Atlanta spoiled Orlando's home opener, skating away with a 5-4 win at Amway Center. Five different Gladiators tallied goals in the win while Matt Ginn stopped 39 shots to earn his first win of the season in goal.

Atlanta ended its road trip on Sunday with a 4-2 win over the Solar Bears. Phil Lane extended his goal streak to three games with a pair of scores while Frazee added a goal and an assist for his second two-point game of the week. Dan Vladar won his second consecutive start with 36 saves.

Frazee leads Atlanta through seven games with eight points (3g-5a). Lindsay Sparks ranks second on the team with seven points (0g-7a), and his seven assists are tied for third in the league. Lane's five goals are a team high, and are tied for third overall in the league.

The Gladiators return home for a pair of games this week, hosting Kansas City on Friday and Saturday.

Wichita's Cameron moves into fifth place on career wins list

Wichita Thunder head coach Malcolm Cameron moved into fifth place on the ECHL's all-time wins list on Saturday when he picked up his 344th career win in a 4-1 victory at Kansas City.

Cameron, who is in his second season with the Thunder and his 10th in the ECHL, has an all-time record of 344-216-73 with Cincinnati, Long Beach, Texas, Florida, Elmira and Wichita.

Jacksonville head coach Jason Christie is the ECHL all-time leader with 547 wins. He is followed by John Marks (491), John Brophy (480) and Jeff Pyle (477).

Another active head coach, Allen's Steve Martinson, ranks eighth in ECHL history with 341 wins. He is one win shy of tying Matt Thomas for seventh place and two wins shy of Larry Courville, who is in sixth place.

Divisions

North Division

Colton White scored his first pro goal on Sunday at Reading. The Thunder are tied for third with 4.29 goals per game. Adirondack visits Fort Wayne on Friday and Cincinnati on Saturday.

Kevin Dufour is on a three-game goal streak (4g). Brampton has scored at least one power-play goal in each of its seven games. The Beast are at Rapid City on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Joel Lowry is tied for third with five goals. The Monarchs are second with 39.57 shots per game. Manchester is at Norfolk on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Ryan Penny recorded his first professional hat trick on Sunday against Adirondack. Reading's 4-0-0 start is the club's best since starting 4-0-1 in 2005-06. The Royals visit Worcester on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Kenny Ryan posted back-to-back two goal games last weekend at Brampton. The Nailers have scored at least one power-play goal in each of their six games. Wheeling hosts Cincinnati on Friday and visits Indy on Saturday.

Patrick McNally is on a five-game point streak (4g-3a). Worcester is second on the penalty kill at 95.5 percent (21-for-22). The Railers host Toledo on Tuesday and Reading on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

South Division

Lindsay Sparks has one assist in each of Atlanta's seven games. The Gladiators scored 15 goals in their three wins last week. Atlanta hosts Kansas City on Friday and Saturday.

Michael Kirkpatrick is on a seven-game point streak (4g-4a). The Everblades have outshot their opponents in each of their seven games. Florida visits Orlando on Wednesday and Saturday.

Ty Rimmer made a career-high 50 saves in Saturday's 4-1 win at Manchester. Greenville is tied for second on the power play at 27.3 percent (9-for-33). The Swamp Rabbits host Kansas City on Wednesday, South Carolina on Friday and Jacksonville on Saturday.

Elgin Pearce has at least one point in each of Jacksonville's three games (2g-3a). Each of the Icemen's three games have been decided by one goal. Jacksonville is at Greenville on Saturday and South Carolina on Sunday.

Steven Delisle played in his 350th career professional game on Friday against South Carolina. Norfolk is 2-0-0 when leading after two periods. The Admirals host Manchester on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Nolan Valleau is on a three-game point streak (1g-3a). The Solar Bears are fourth with 38.40 shots per game. Orlando hosts Florida on Wednesday and Saturday.

Patrick Gaul scored two goals on Friday at Norfolk for his first multi-goal game since Nov. 22, 2014. South Carolina has started 4-0-0 for the first time since 2002-03. The Stingrays travel to Greenville on Friday and host Jacksonville on Sunday.

Central Division

Mitch Nylen scored his first pro goal on Saturday at Kalamazoo. The Cyclones are the league's least-penalized team with 11.75 penalty minutes per game. Cincinnati visits Wheeling on Friday and hosts Adirondack on Saturday.

Jason Binkley (4a) and Shawn Szydlowski (1g-3a) both have at least one point in each of the Komets' four games. Fort Wayne has outscored its opponents 5-1 in the third period. The Komets host Adirondack on Friday and Quad City on Saturday before visiting Kalamazoo on Sunday.

Cam Reid has set a club record with a six-game point streak to start the season (1g-6a). The Fuel have scored at least one power-play goal in each of their six games. Indy visits Quad City on Friday and hosts Wheeling on Saturday and Toledo on Sunday.

Danny Moynihan scored four goals in two games last week. Kalamazoo's five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1) is its best start to a season since 2009-10. The K-Wings host Cincinnati on Wednesday, travel to Toledo on Saturday and host Fort Wayne on Sunday.

Tyler Parsons is fifth with 260 minutes played. The Mavericks are 2-0-0 when leading after one period. Kansas City is at Greenville on Wednesday and Atlanta on Friday and Saturday.

Ivan Kulbakov set a club record with 57 saves on Friday in a 3-2 shootout win over Idaho. Quad City has scored seven of its 15 goals in the second period. The Mallards host Indy on Friday and visit Fort Wayne on Saturday.

Parker Reno scored his first pro goal on Saturday at Adirondack. The Walleye are fourth with 28.33 shots-against per game. Toledo is at Worcester on Tuesday, hosts Kalamazoo on Saturday and visits Indy on Sunday.

Mountain Division

Jeremy Brodeur made 46 saves in his pro first pro start on Sunday against Tulsa. Allen is tied for second with three shorthanded goals. The Americans host Utah on Wednesday, are at Wichita on Friday and host the Thunder on Saturday and Tulsa on Sunday.

Michael Joly leads the league with seven goals. The Eagles are 6-0-0 when scoring first. Colorado visits Idaho on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Philippe Desrosiers is unbeaten in regulation in four starts this season, going 2-0-2 with a .920 save percentage. Idaho leads the league with 42.29 shots per game. The Steelheads host Colorado on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Jimmy DeVito scored the first two goals of his career in Saturday's win against Colorado. The Rush have scored nine of their 19 goals in the first period. Rapid City hosts Brampton on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Conner Bleackley leads the league with three short-handed goals. Tulsa has registered at least 30 shots on goal in seven of its eight games. The Oilers host Utah on Friday and Saturday before travelling to Allen on Sunday.

Taylor Richart is tied for the league lead with two game-winning goals. The Grizzlies are 3-0-0 when scoring first. Utah is at Allen on Wednesday, Tulsa on Friday and Saturday and Wichita on Sunday.

Mark MacMillan has three goals in the last two games. Wichita has killed off 15 straight opponent power plays. The Thunder host Allen on Friday, visit the Americans on Saturday and host Utah on Sunday.
