
Four Spirit Players Named to NHL Central Scouting's Final Rankings

Saginaw, Mich. - NHL Central scouting today released its final rankings ahead of the 2023 NHL Draft, featuring Spirit goaltender Andrew Oke and skaters Luke McNamara, Joey Willis, and Calem Mangone.
Andrew Oke finishes his second season of OHL action as the #29 ranked North American goaltender according to NHL Central Scouting. He posted a 10-10-1 record in 24 appearances, and set career-best marks with a 3.45 GAA and .892 SV%. Saginaw's 5th round selection in 2020 won four of his last seven starts, sporting a .903 SV% and 3.45 GAA. Oke attended Detroit Red Wings prospect camp this past July.
In his sophomore campaign, center Luke McNamara ends the year as the 100th ranked North American skater. Saginaw's 15th overall selection in 2021, McNamara also posted career highs this season. In 67 games, the Mississauga native recorded 27 points (8G, 19A) and took 644 faceoffs - 3rd most on the team.
As a 17-year-old rookie, Joey Willis exploded onto the scene in Saginaw. After recording a goal and an assist in his OHL debut, Willis piled up 10 points (5G, 5A) in his first six games. He would end the year 5th in OHL rookie scoring with 15 goals, 29 assists, and 44 points. For his work, Willis has been ranked as the 174th North American skater ahead of the 2023 NHL Draft. In the postseason, Willis holds four goals and two assists for six points.
Calem Mangone rounds out the Spirit names on NHL Central Scouting's list at #214. In 67 games, the Sault Ste. Marie native posted a career best 47 points (18G, 29A), fifth-most among Spirit forwards. Saginaw's 2nd overall selection from the 2021 U18 draft, Mangone has three assists in this year's playoffs, including one on the opening goal of Game 7 against Flint.
The 2023 NHL Entry Draft begins Wednesday, June 28th.
