
Four in a Row: St. Cloud Sweeps with a Shutout

St. Cloud, Minn. - The Norsemen are winners of four straight games after a 5-0 in over the Minnesota Wilderness on Saturday at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
St. Cloud used different goal-scorers and a 23-save shutout by goaltender Tomas Bolo (Zilina, Slovakia) to secure the weekend sweep after a 5-1 road win at the Wilderness on Friday.
Forward Nik Hong and defenseman Sam Duerr both tallied power play goals, while Blake Perbix, Ryan O'Neill and Peyton Hanson notched even-strength strikes.
Hong (Minneapolis, MN) gave the Norsemen a 1-0 lead on a power play goal with two minutes remaining in the first, assisted by rookie Kade Peterson and Duerr.
St. Cloud opened things up in the second period with a pair of scores less than two minutes apart. Blake Mesenburg (Orono, MN) made a patient pass to O'Neill (Roseville, MN | Univ. of St. Thomas) who ripped it home to make it 2-0 St. Cloud.
Perbix (Princeton, MN | Northern Michigan) continued his hot streak with his third goal of the weekend, with assists by O'Neill and Broten Sabo (Rosemount, MN).
The Norsemen took a 4-0 lead with 5:17 left in the second, on a give-and-go from defenseman Gunnar Johnson and Peyton Hanson (Hudson, WI), that Hanson punched in for his third goal of the season. Chase Freiermuth (Hastings, MN) picked up the second assist.
St. Cloud made it 5-0 just 2:27 into the third period with Duerr's power play blast. Hong and Logan Kittleson (Burnsville, MN) assisted on the play.
Duerr,]Hong and O'Neill all recorded two-point games with a goal and assist apiece.
Perbix is the owner of a five-game point streak with seven points in that span and goals in three straight games. Mesenburg has points in four consecutive games with six points in that stretch.
Bolo's shutout is his second of the season and brings his record to 9-3-0. Bolo now has a 2.24 goals against average and .904 save percentage.
The Norsemen power play went 2-for-6 and penalty kill was 4-for-4. St. Cloud's power play ranks 9th in the North American Hockey League and penalty kill is 8th overall.
St. Cloud (13-9-0) is back in Central Division action next weekend when the Aberdeen Wings come to town for a pair of 7:00 p.m. games on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 17-18.
