Houston Dash News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dash defenders Lindsay Agnew and Allysha Chapman, midfielder Sophie Schmidt and forward Nichelle Prince were named to the Canadian Women's National Team to play in the Four Nations Tournament, the Canadian Soccer Association announced earlier today.
Canada returns to international action to continue their preparation for the Concacaf Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament in January 2020. Canada will be one of four teams to compete in the tournament that will take place in Yongchuan, China. First up, Canada will take on Brazil on November 7 at 2 p.m. CT while China hosts New Zealand the same day. The winners of the two matchups will play the final on November 10 to claim the tournament title.
All four Dash players were part of Canada's Women's World Cup squad which reached the Round of 16 last summer in France.
Agnew made her debut with the Canadian senior team in 2017 and has tallied 11 appearances. Chapman has represented Canada in two World Cups, playing every minute of five games in Canada's run in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup and appearing in all four games of the 2019 World Cup.
Schmidt has been part of Canada's national team since 2005 and will made her fourth World Cup appearance this summer in France. The midfielder is 15 appearances shy from making her 200th appearance for Canada, having scored a total of 19 goals. Schmidt was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame on October 23.
Before suffering a season-ending injury, Prince scored the opening goal of the 2019 season for the Dash against Reign FC in April. The forward went on to play in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France, lifting Canada over New Zealand scoring her first World Cup goal. The win helped Canada qualify for the knockout round.
