
Four Goal Third Delivers Kalamazoo Two Points

Traverse City, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings scored four goals in the third period, and also got help from Kyle Gattelaro, who notched two of his own, as the Kalamazoo Jr.
K-Wings beat the Traverse City North Stars by a final score of 5-2 on Saturday night.
Eight minutes into the first period, the North Stars took an early 1-0 lead. For the second consecutive night, Traverse City started their scoring with a power play. Kyle Schempp scored his tenth of the year on a slap shot from the top of the circles.
Four and a half minutes into the second period, Kalamazoo drew even on Gattelaro's16th of the season. While working with a man-advantage, Gattelaro put the puck past Traverse City starting goalie, Kyle Laslo, who was playing in his 37th game of a possible 43 for the North Stars.
Later on in the middle frame, Seth Adams scored his fifth of the season on a toe-drag move to re-establish the one goal lead for Traverse City.
Midway through the third period and trailing by one, Kalamazoo locked the game up at 2 apiece with Brock Raffaele's ninth of the season. The goal for Raffaele, a power play tally, was assisted by defenseman, Alex Brooks.
Just two and a half minutes after the Raffaele tally, the Jr. K-Wings took their first lead of the game on the fifth goal of the season by Davis DeKorte. The goal was his first as a Jr. K-Wing in his fifth game with Kalamazoo.
With time dwindling down in the third, Kalamazoo took a two-goal lead off their third unanswered goal in the third period. Nick Kovalchik notched his seventh
Gattelaro (16th) capped off the Kalamazoo comeback victory by adding an empty netter with 1:29 remaining in the third.
K-Wings will return to the Borgess Health Rink at Wings West again on Sunday, February 25th against the St. Louis Bandits.
