Forward Madison set a new regular season attendance record, but dropped to fourth in the USL League One standings after a close 0-1 home loss to Greenville Triumph on Saturday. The crowd of 4,663 was ultimately denied a positive result by Greenville midfielder Christopher Bermudez, who scored the winner near the end of the first half.

Although neither team created many gilt-edged chances at the start of the game, Greenville took the lead just before the break through Bermudez, who took down a cross from Aaron Walker before curling the shot past Brian Sylvestre at the far post. Forward Madison had their own chance to respond immediately thanks to Josiel Núñez, whose shot from point-blank range was cleared off the line by defender Tyler Polak.

The second half became more of a defensive display, with Greenville taking off the goalscorer Bermudez for the more defensively-minded Paul Clowes and sitting deep behind the ball. As the Triumph sat back, the Flamingos struggled to break down a defense the has conceded fewer goals than any other in USL League One.

After playing twice in the past week, Forward Madison gets the weekend off before hosting fifth-place South Georgia Tormenta FC in what will be a major battle for the League One playoff spots. The Flamingos have five regular season games left to play in their inaugural season.
