Forward Madison FC News Release

Forward Madison returned to Breese Stevens Field for a matchup with major USL League One implications against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. The match kicked off at 7:06 pm from Madison, Wisconsin. This match served as Forward Madison's Bark in the Park Night, with dogs allowed into the stadium to watch the match with their owners. The match resulted in a 2-5 win for Chattanooga. Mélé Temguia managed to score his first goal in the Pink and Blue, while Mikey Maldonado tallied a goal in the 62nd minute.

The Flamingos got off to a quick start with chances in the box from Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu and Maldonado, but both efforts were thwarted by the Chattanooga defense. Maldonado had a second chance in the 4th minute of the match, but the shot was pulled just wide of the net. Chattanooga worked its way into the match and created the opening goal of the match off a set piece in the 13th minute. Nicolas Cardona got a foot to a lofted ball into the box, beating Raiko Arozarena's outstretched arms. Chattanooga proceeded to score three goals in the 23rd, 30th, and 27th minute to take a commanding 4-0 lead early in the match. After a collision in the box, Eric Leonard was substituted off in the 32nd minute for Cesar Murillo Jr. Forward Madison converted on a penalty kick in the 38th minute off of the club's first corner kick goal courtesy of Temguia. The teams entered half with the Red Wolves up 4-1.

The Flamingos made two changes to start the second half, with Jeremiah Streng and Drew Conner coming into the match replacing Matheus Cassini and Alann Torres. The half began back and forth, with Forward Madison logging a corner right away in the 52nd minute. In the 62nd minute of the match, Maldonado gained momentum driving through the Chattanooga defense. The midfielder drove past the last defender and fired a high shot that the keeper was unable to save. With a little less than 30 minutes left the 'Mingos only trailed 2-4. As the half went on the Flamingos continued to play more and more aggressively. Coach Matt Glaeser made a couple more subs around the 80th minute, Alvin Jones and Rojay Smith entered the match for Abdou Mbacke-Thiam and Derek Gebhard. Forward Madison logged a couple of close chances in the 82nd and 83rd minutes but the chances led to nothing. In the 89th minute, Chattanooga crossed the ball into the box to Juan Galindrez who managed to connect his foot with the ball to give the Red Wolves a 5-2 lead. With a three goal deficit and only six minutes of stoppage time added, Forward Madison ended up falling 2-5 to Chattanooga.

Forward Madison's next match is on Saturday, September 17th against North Carolina FC at 5 pm. The early start time is designed for a Family Night, with several activities planned for families. Chattanooga next plays against the Richmond Kickers on September 17th.
