New Jersey Titans News Release
The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Evan Werner has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for the Colorado College Tigers who play in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).
Werner, 18, had a stellar rookie season with the Titans this past year. He was named to the NAHL All-Rookie and East Division's Rookie teams. He was tied for third on the team in total points with 36 (21 goals and 15 assists). However, he led the Titans in goals with 21. He also led the team with four game winning goals. He played in 40 games last year.
The Flower Mound, TX native received weekly/monthly league recognition four times last year. He was honorable mention for forward of the month for the month of January, and he was the East Division's second star of the week for week ending December 6 and honorable mention for October 25.
"I would like to first off thank Craig Doremus and the Titans organization for everything they did for me this past season," said Werner. "I took my game to the next level and can't thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to succeed.
I also would like to thank the Hopwood family for being so welcoming and providing me a home away from home. Without them, the year wouldn't have been the same, and they will be forever apart of my family.
I am super excited to be a part of Colorado College and their future. Coach Mayotte and his staff have many great visions for the program, and I can't wait to be a part of it. I am pumped to be a Tiger" concluded Werner.
"We are proud of Evan and his family on his commitment to Colorado College" said Titans head coach and general manager Doremus. "Evan had a very strong rookie season in the NAHL Eastern Division and was an offensive leader for us throughout the year. We look forward to seeing his career out and wish him nothing but the best moving forward" concluded Doremus.
Colorado College is in Colorado Springs, CO. The Tigers are coached by Kris Mayotte.
