Fort Worth Cats News Release
Fort Worth, Texas - Each year The Arc of Greater Tarrant County hosts an annual dinner and awards banquet benefitting its membership and honoring outstanding leadership and service of local businesses, organizations, and individuals making a difference in the lives of those impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Greater Tarrant County service area. This year we are excited to announce the award of Organization of the Year will be presented to The Fort Worth Cats baseball club- Fort Worth's home team!
The Fort Worth Cats has a long history of supporting this community and seeing that as many Fort Worth children, individuals and families as possible can enjoy supporting their home team. As an organization the Cats have made accessibility and inclusion priorities from day one. Owner Carl Bell was sure to build the stadium at LaGrave Field completely to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards and saw that every section of the stadium included accessible seating. The club has a strong history of hiring persons with disabilities. They have hosted Disability Awareness Night during several games and provided thousands of complimentary tickets for persons with disabilities. The Fort Worth Cats have also supported The Arc of Greater Tarrant County many times, including hosting the 2009 Christmas celebration for Our Special Children and Las Familias. These programs provide invaluable parent-to-parent support and resources for parents of children with disabilities of all ages.
"We are humbled to receive this award." said Cats General Manager Dick Smith. "Our organization takes great pride in making an evening at LaGrave Field a wonderful experience for every single fan that attends. We also take pride in giving back to the community and offering everyone a chance to come enjoy a fun evening of baseball. The ultimate reward is seeing the joy in their faces."
The Arc of Greater Tarrant County is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization serving children, families, and individuals living with or impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1949.
