Fort Worth Announces Fort Worth Cats Championship Week

As the Fort Worth Cats prepare for their United League championship series matchup with the Edinburg Roadrunners, the City of Fort Worth is recognizing the Cats' successful season with a very special proclamation.

The City Council of Fort Worth, including Mayor Betsy Price, have made August 13-20 ‘Fort Worth Cats Championship Week'. They presented the Cats' front office staff with an official proclamation Tuesday afternoon.

The proclamation reads as follows: "Whereas, 2013 marks the 125th anniversary of the beginning of professional baseball in Fort Worth; and,

Whereas, as the Fort Worth Cats, the 2013 regular season championships of the United Baseball League, are offering reduced playoff ticket prices in an effort to ‘pack the park for the playoffs'; and

Whereas, the 2013 championship playoff series will be played at the historic LaGrave Field beginning Thursday, August 15, 2013 and running through Monday, August 19, 2013, if games 4 and 5 are necessary; and,

Whereas, the City of Fort Worth encourages all residents to come out and show their support for the Fort Worth Cats as they seek to claim their 17th league championship title for Cowtown, now therefore:

The City of Fort Worth does hereby proclaim August 13-20, 2013, as Fort Worth Cats Championship Baseball Week in the City of Fort Worth."
