Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, Friday night fell to the host Fort Wayne Komets 2-1 as Tomas Klempa and Guy Dupuis provided the Fort Wayne goals.
The Komets opened the scoring at 6:01 of the first period when Klempa slid along the ice and crashed into the net- an instant after tapping the puck in.
Fort Wayne was on the power play when Dupuis's blue line blast doubled the margin at 9:25 of the second period.
The Mallards bounced back to cut the Fort Wayne lead in half in the final minute of the second period as Mike Zbriger buried Terry Harrison's centering pass to make it 2-1.
