Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Wednesday, December 17, 2014) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers will open the 2015 Spring Season at home against longtime-rival New York Cosmos on Saturday, April 4, 2015. The Strikers will host NASL newcomers Jacksonville Armada FC the following week, date TBD, as well as Atlanta Silverbacks Saturday, May 2, Carolina RailHawks Saturday, May 23, and Indy Eleven Saturday, June 6.

"The 10-game Spring Season means that it's imperative for us to win immediately,"said Strikers Managing Partner Ricardo Geromel. "We're looking forward to facing off against our rivals the Cosmos week one. The addition of Ronaldo and Raúl to the Strikers and Cosmos organizations, respectively, will make for another special chapter in this historic rivalry."

Each of the NASL's 11 clubs will play a 10-game Spring Season consisting of five home games and five away games. The Spring Season winner will earn one of the league's four postseason berths.

"We're all filled with great anticipation ahead of the kickoff of the NASL's fifth year,"said NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson. "The competition during last year's Spring Season was intense... We're expecting a similar level of excitement in 2015."

The NASL will be operating under the same competition format as last year, with the Spring Season Champion and the Fall Season Champion accounting for the top two seeds in The Championship, the league's four-team postseason tournament. The remaining two postseason spots will go to the teams that accumulated the most combined points over the course of the Spring and Fall Seasons.
