Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release

HIDALGO, TX: January 19, 2005 – The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 are elated to announce they have been assigned lineman Will Goodloe by the af2 for the 2005 season.

"He is big, athletic and will be coming in hungry," said Dorados Head Coach Kevin Guy. "One of our goals is to upgrade our line from last season and he fits what we are looking for."

Goodloe is seeking his first season of professional football. He completed his college career in 2001 at West Texas A&M in Canyon after beginning his college career at the University of Texas. The Spring Valley, California native was a two-year letterman at the University of Texas and played on the defensive line in 1996 and 1997 under the final years of the John Mackovic campaign. He was part of UT's Big 12 Championship squad in 1996, which beat Nebraska to compete in the 1997 Fiesta Bowl against Penn State. Goodloe transferred back home to San Diego State University and wound up quitting football, but returned to the gridiron in 2000 by enrolling to West Texas A&M. He tied for sixth on the Buffaloes squad with 36 tackles and had ten tackles for a loss (second on the team), including a team high five sacks. Goodloe closed out his college career in 2001 ranking tied for seventh on the Buffaloes squad in tackles (47) and tied for third on the team with 40 assisted tackles. West Texas A&M named Goodloe their Most Valuable Defensive Player in 2001.

The 6'5" 285-pound 26 year-old was recruited as a Blue Chip All-American and Super Prep All-American out of Monte Vista High School, where he was a teammate of former Dallas Cowboys running back Michael Wiley. Goodloe was part of the Monte Vista teams that compiled a 28-8 record when he played and won the 1995 CIF state title. He was also an all-conference basketball award winner and a Golden Pyramid Scholar.

Goodloe is the eighth addition to the Dorados 2005 roster, joining Brian Baker (QB), John Bradley (OL/DL), Josh Kellett (QB), Joseph Lemberg (OS), Moses Lewis (TBD), David Morrill (FB/LB) and Josh Tubbs (OL/DL). Media members seeking an interview with Lewis or Coach Guy are encouraged to contact Chris Due with the Dorados at 956-227-4940. Coach Guy arrived in the Valley today for his first day on the job and is available for interview at the Dorados offices.

The Dorados kick-off their 2005 campaign April 9th at the Dodge Arena, as they host the Louisville Fire. Season ticket packages and advertising opportunities are available by contacting the Dorados offices at 956-843-7825.
