Medicine Hat, AB - It is with sadness the Medicine Hat Tigers have learned of the passing of former Tigers' owner and president Rod Carry.

Mr. Carry served as team president form 1970 to 1977 and during that time also represented the Medicine Hat Tigers on the Western Canada Hockey League's Board of Governors. Mr. Carry was greatly responsible for Medicine Hat being awarded an expansion franchise in January 1970.

"Rod's vision was instrumental in bringing major junior hockey to Medicine Hat in 1970," said Tigers' president Darrell Maser. "During his tenure as president, the team accomplished the remarkable feat of capturing the 1973 League Championship and competing for the Memorial Cup in only the team's third year of operation. His contributions to the Medicine Hat Tigers were many and will always be remembered fondly by our organization and the Western Hockey League community."

"Our deepest condolences go out to the Carry family at this time," said Maser.
