April 6, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
RiverCity Rage News Release
From Arizona Western Junior College to Western New Mexico University to professional indoor football, two teammates are making their presence known. Bruce Blue, FB/LB for the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League was named as Ironman of the Week in the AFL for his performance in the Dragons 48-24 win over Grand Rapids. Blue recorded 2 tackles including a sack for a safety and rushed for 28 yards on 2 carries for 2 touchdowns. His former teammate, Hurtis Chinn of the RiverCity Rage of the National Indoor Football League was the NIFL Offensive Player of the Week for his 6 touchdown performance in the Rage's 76-34 win over Cincinnati on March 26.
The two players have roots with the RiverCity Rage as well. Blue and Chinn were signees of the Rage and played their rookie seasons in 2005 after having completed their careers at Western New Mexico.
"Both are fine players and good people. We were thrilled to have had them both, here, and really believe that their best football is still in front of them." stated Rage head football coach Mike Wyatt.
Chinn went to training camp in the AFL with the Utah Blaze and made it up to the final cut before returning to the Rage for the 2006 season. In the Rage's two games, to date, Chinn has scored 10 touchdowns, has 269 yards receiving and 17 receptions on the year to lead the league in all three categories.
Blue, after having appeared in some earlier games, this season, with the Dragons, just returned from a stint on injured reserve and it looks like he came back with a vengeance. "There will be more things to be heard from both of these players in the very near future. There is no question that they will get their chances to move up to the next level, as well. We're just glad to have the opportunity to have been a part of their present and future successes." added Wyatt.
