
Former Snappers Take on the World in WBC

With the announcement of the second World Baseball Classic roster Tuesday, Snapper fans will see a few familiar faces representing their native country.
Australia, Canada and Italy teams will have former Snappers on the squad. The Australia team will have a pair of former infielders in Daniel Berg and Luke Hughes. Berg played in Beloit in 2006 and 2007 while Hughes played in 2005. Josh Hill ('05) who was a teammate of Hughes will be the only Snapper on the pitching side for Australia.
Current Twin and former AL MVP Justin Morneau will team up with former Snapper infielder Chris Barnwell ('02) who is currently with the Houston Astros for team Canada. Team Canada takes on U.S.A. on Saturday, March 7th at 1:00 pm (central) in pool C.
Catcher Vinny Rottino ('04) teams up with Twins infielder Nick Punto for team Italy. Italy will face Venezuela in the night cap of pool C after U.S. vs. Canada.
The tournament finals will be held in Los Angles, California on March, 23rd. The first two rounds are double elimination followed by one single elimination round, then the championship game.
Most games will be broadcast live on ESPN family networks.
