Former Pro Weimer Joins Trail Blazers Staff

Former professional pitcher, New Hartford native Andy Weimer will be joining the Adirondack Trail Blazers as an Advisor for the 2014 season. The Trailblazers will look to Andy for assistance both on the field as well as with community promotion.

After a successful collegiate career at Le Moyne College, Weimer was selected in the 15th round of the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He also pitched in the Cincinnati Reds' farm system, as well as with several Independent League organizations. Weimer played a total of seven years professionally, pitching in 262 games as a relief pitcher and closer. He earned 18 wins, collected 63 saves, and notched 209 strikeouts in 338 innings pitched.

Weimer has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Le Moyne College and is a Financial Representative with Northwestern Mutual. He served as Head Baseball Coach at Utica College from 2009-2013. Andy and his wife Laura live in Utica and have three children, Ilana, Michael and Joseph.
