Former Pacific Steve Detwiler to Pitch on Tuesday

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The San Rafael Pacifics, winners of six of their last eight games, continue their homestand at Albert Park on Tuesday, July 30 when the East Bay Lumberjacks visit. Former Pacific and College World Series hero Steve Detwiler, a product of San Rafael High School, will toe the rubber for the Lumberjacks.

Detwiler was drafted by the Houston Astros in 40th round in 2006 but instead attended Fresno State, where he hit two homers, drove in six RBIs, and caught the final out in the championship game of the 2008 College World Series. Playing with a torn tendon in his thumb, he set CWS records for home runs (four), RBI (11), and hits. Detwiler will forever be remembered in Pacifics history after he launched a pair of home runs on Opening Night 2012 to lead the Pacifics to victory in their inaugural game.

He made his Lumberjacks debut on July 25 versus the Pacifics after being traded earlier that day and recorded an RBI single.

Tuesday is Twofer Tuesday (buy one ticket, receive the second free) presented by Red Boy Pizza. Also, through August 4, the first-place Pacifics are celebrating their successful road trip from Hawaii by offering kids 12 and under a free ticket when accompanied by an adult. Both deals are available in person, no coupon required, on the night of the game at the Guarantee Mortgage Ticket Booth, which opens one hour prior to gametime. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
