Former Olympian Kusiewicz joins Rapidz front office

OTTAWA (September 9, 2008) - The Ottawa Rapidz are pleased to announce that former starting pitcher and pitching coach Mike Kusiewicz has been promoted to Director, Player Personnel.
Kusiewicz brings a wealth of baseball playing and coaching experience to the Rapidz front office and will work closely with Manager Tom Carcione to build the team for the coming season. Mike will also resume his role as Rapidz Pitching Coach for the 2009 season.
"We're thrilled that Mike is transitioning into a role in the Rapidz front office, bringing a much needed baseball focus to our operations," said Rob Hall. "He was a leader on the team this season and we're confident that the baseball knowledge and experience he brings to this position will to help us build a winning team."
Mike was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 8th round of the 1994 amateur entry draft and is a former Team Canada player and the Canadian Olympic baseball team. Kusiewicz has played with six different major league organizations and played numerous years in the independent league. Mike was named the 2006 Ottawa Baseball Player of the Year.
"I'm looking forward to moving into the next phase of my baseball career with the support of the Rapidz," said Kusiewicz. "I'm pleased that I can use my experience and knowledge to help build this team. This is my hometown and it means a lot that I'll have a part in bringing quality baseball to our community."
