Former NYCFC Academy Player Dante Polvara Wins Men's MAC Hermann Trophy

January 9, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York City FC News Release

Former New York City FC academy midfielder Dante Polvara has won the 2021 Men's MAC Hermann Trophy.

The MAC Hermann Trophy dates back to 1967 and remains one of the most prestigious honors in College soccer.

The talented midfielder recently completed his third season with Georgetown University and was selected as a semifinalist for the award last season. He is also a two-time All-American and two-time Big East Midfielder of the Year.

Last season saw Polvara record 22 appearances for the Hoyas and return seven goals and six assists in the process. That form saw him collect the top prize on Friday night during the MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. That completed what has been a busy week for the midfielder as he also agreed his first professional contract with Scottish club Aberdeen.

"On behalf of everyone at the Club I'd like to congratulate Dante on winning the MAC Hermann Trophy," Sporting Director David Lee said. "Dante played on both U19 National Championship winning teams while at NYCFC, and we are pleased to see his continued development with Georgetown University.

"I'd also like to wish him good luck as he embarks on the first step of his professional career with Aberdeen. He is joining a wonderful football club, and we wish him continued success."
