FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed former North Dakota State University and Fargo North High School LHP Jake Laber to a contract for the 2008 season, the Northern League club announced today. To make room for Laber on the roster, the RedHawks released RHP David Humen.

Laber, 21, was 3-5 with a 5.24 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) for the Bison in 2008. He pitched 80.2 innings and allowed 56 runs (47 earned) on 84 hits. Laber struck out 66 batters and walked 41.

Laber was a four-year letter-winner at NDSU, going 13-26 with a 5.68 ERA in 58 games (45 starts) for the Bison. His best season came in 2006, when he was 6-6 with a 3.89 ERA in 15 games (12 starts).

Laber will join the team in Winnipeg tonight as the RedHawks open a two-game series with the Winnipeg Goldeyes at CanWest Park at 7:00 p.m. All RedHawks games can be heard on WDAY AM 970 or on-line at www.fmredhawks.com. Following Tuesday's game, the RedHawks will return home for a five-game series against the Kansas City T-Bones starting on Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field.
