
Former Monarch's return to basketball named WNBA's Most Inspirational Moment

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., August 10, 2006 - The WNBA announced that former Monarchs guard
Edna Campbell's triumphant return to the court on August 13, 2002, after a battle
with breast cancer, has been chosen by the fans as the WNBA's Most Inspirational
Moment. The WNBA's Greatest Moments Presented by AOL.com program was launched
during the WNBA All-Star Game on July 12 and fans have had the chance to log on to
www.aol.com/wnba Almost immediately after entering the game, in 2002, Campbell scored her first
basket on a fast break that was truly inspirational. "Of course I am honored with
this recognition," said Campbell. "That moment impacted so many lives inside and
outside of the realm of basketball." There is a winner from four different categories including Greatest Shot, Greatest
Pass, Greatest Milestone and Greatest Inspirational Moment. The winner from each of
these categories will comprise the final ballot, with voting for the top moment
running from Wednesday, August 9, through Tuesday, August 23. The winner will be
announced during halftime of ESPN2's telecast of Game 1 of the WNBA Finals on
Wednesday, August 30. Discussing the possibility of being recognized as having the most significant moment
in WNBA history, Campbell said, "My playing career in the WNBA has magnified my
ability to touch lives and inspire hope for breast cancer patients all over the
world. Just being recognized for that is amazing and not just for me, but for
millions of breast cancer survivors." "Edna Campbell's return to the court following her amazing battle with breast
cancer, was one of those moments in your life when time stands still," said Danette
