Former MLB All-Star Brian Fuentes Joins Future Legends as Investing Partner

WINDSOR, Colo. -- Future Legends announces former MLB All-Star Brian Fuentes as an investing partner in the Future Legends Complex project.

"I got the idea from Ryan Spilborghs [former Colorado Rockies player and Future Legends co-owner], who I played with for a number of years," said Fuentes. "It was already moving. It took a while to hear all the dynamics and the workings of it all, but once I did, it sounded phenomenal. I knew I wanted to be a part of it once I heard the whole story."

Having joined the Rockies in 2002 and played with the team for seven seasons, Fuentes still stands as the team's all-time record holder for saves with 115. He made three All-Star appearances with the Rockies and won a National League pennant in 2007 before moving on to the Los Angeles Angels, where he earned a fourth All-Star appearance in 2009. He finished his career with stints in Minnesota, Oakland, and St. Louis before retiring in 2012.

Future Legends' ownership group is thrilled to have Fuentes on the team.

"Brian's passion for youth and professional sports adds to his continuous contribution to this community that he cares so deeply about," said Casey Katofsky, Executive Director of Operations at Future Legends. "We are very lucky to have Brian a part of the team!"

Fuentes began playing baseball at a young age, and continued coaching after he retired from his professional career. He believes this project is a home run for athletes, coaches, and all of Northern Colorado.

"Youth sports gives kids an outlet to get out and be active, to learn confidence, to learn teamwork, to learn discipline", said Fuentes. "So to have this complex go up and give all these teams an opportunity to come and play against the best, the facility's going to be second to none."

Because of that fact, he was sold from the first pitch. It didn't take much convincing from his former teammate for Fuentes to join the team.

"It's all-encompassing, and I really love that," said Fuentes. "It's pretty easy to put together four or five fields and call it a facility. But when you have a minor league stadium there, you have hitting cages, you have dorms, you have retail, you have all these things, it's like a playground. It's a Disneyland for players and coaches."

Future Legends Complex will be the premier destination for sports and events in Northern Colorado. The 118-acre complex will feature the 6,500-seat TicketSmarter Stadium, 2,500-seat Future Legends Field, multiple baseball diamonds and multi-purpose fields, an indoor sports arena, an esports arena, Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton hotels, and multiple restaurants retail locations; and will host guests for major sports tournaments, events, leagues, and more.
