Montreal, PQ- Major League Baseball's Montreal Expos announced last week that they have recalled former Lumberjack pitcher Joey Eischen from their Triple-A affiliate in Ottawa, Ontario. Eischen became the first Lumberjack to make it to the Majors last year, when he appeared in 24 games for the Expos.

Joey began this year in Triple-A Ottawa, and adjusted nicely to his new role as closer for the Lynx. He dominated the International League, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 11 games and picking up 4 saves.

"It's great to see Joey get back to the highest caliber of baseball in the world. In my seven years in baseball, I haven't met anyone more deserving than Joey," stated Jacks General Manager Curt Jacey.

Originally joining the Lumberjacks in 1999, Joey had a brief stint in the Indians organization after posting a 4-2 record with a 3.75 ERA while with the Jacks that summer. Joey returned to the Lumberjacks for the first half of the 2000 season and went 7-1 with a 1.80 ERA, before being signed by Montreal.

The Lumberjacks open the 2002 campaign on Friday, May 24 at 6 PM against their rival, the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs. Tickets for this and all home games are available by calling the Lumberjacks Ticket Office at (518) 743-9618.
