
Former Jr. Blues Goaltender Mike McKenna Makes NHL Debut

Former Springfield Jr. Blues goaltender Mike McKenna made his NHL debut Tuesday night for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the New York Islanders. On Wednesday night, he started and played the entire game against the mighty Pittsburg Penguins, losing in overtime 4-3.
McKenna, a St. Louis native, played for the Jr. Blues during the 1999-2000 season. He was drafted in the 2002 NHL draft as a sixth round pick by Nashville. The Lightning had a 3-0 lead before the Penguins bounced back to tie the game and send it into oveertime. Evgeni Malkin scored the overtime gola against McKenna to gain the win.
