
Former Ice D-Man Carlson Helps Send U.S.A. to Finals

INDIANAPOLIS - Former Indiana Ice defenseman John Carlson and the rest of the United States National Junior Team have advanced to the gold medal game to face Canada in the 2010 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship. The puck drops at 8 pm in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
The U.S. squad improved their tournament record to 5-0-1-0 after defeating Sweden 5-2 in the semifinals on Sunday. Carlson delivered the game-winning goal in the third period to go along with an earlier assist to help lead U.S.A. to victory.
Carlson spent the entire 2007-08 season with the Ice where he posted 43 points (12G, 31A) in 61 games. He was an All-USHL Second Team selection that year and a member of the East Squad at the 2008 USHL All-Star classic.
He was selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round (27th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut this season playing in three games. He is currently an American Hockey League (AHL) All-Star playing for the Hershey Bears, where he has collected 24 points (G, 23A) in 29 games.
