Former Rochester Honker Brian Flynn

(Rochester, Minn.) - Former Rochester Honker Brian Flynn picked up his first major-league win with the Kansas City Royals Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox, a 3-2 victory.
Flynn entered with the game tied 2-2 and finished off the sixth inning for Royals' starter Ian Kennedy. He went 0.1 innings and picked up a strikeout.
Lorenzo Cain hit a sacrifice fly that scored Jarrod Dyson in the bottom of the sixth for the Royals, which earned Flynn the victory. Wade Davis earned his ninth save of the season when he shut down the Red Sox in the ninth.
On the season, Flynn is 1-0 in five appearances, with 7.1 innings pitched. In those innings, he struck out six, walked four and posted a 4.91 ERA.
In his career, Flynn has pitched for the Miami Marlins and the Royals, pitching 32.1 innings, with 27 strikeouts, 20 walks and a 7.79 ERA. Flynn had seven at-bats with the Marlins and registered two hits. In his minor league career, Flynn went 35-30 with a 3.50 ERA in 93 starts and struck out 442.
Flynn pitched for the Honkers in the summer of 2009, where he went 6-2 with a 4.22 ERA in ten regular-season starts. He totaled 55.1 innings pitched, allowing 56 hits, struck out 42, and walked 20.
The Rochester Honkers 23rd season begins on May 31st when the team travels to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on the Express. The following night, Wednesday, June 1st, the Honkers battle the Express in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm. Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available.
