FARGO, ND - Former Fargo Force forward Tanner Kero signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. Kero was undrafted in the NHL Draft. He will join the Blackhawks AHL affiliate team in Rockford to end the season, with his two-year contract beginning at the start of next season.

Kero is the seventh former Force player to sign a NHL professional contract behind Jonny Brodzinski, Colton Hargrove, Hunter Warner, Nate Schmidt, Luke Witkowski, and Mike Lee.

Kero just finished his collegiate career with Michigan Tech. Captain of the Huskies his senior season, Kero led the team in scoring with 46 points (20g, 26a) in just 41 games. He was named one of the 10 Hobey Baker finalists, WCHA Player of the Year and WCHA Student-Athlete of the Year. His freshman year he posted 16 points (9g, 7a), 24 points (11g, 13a) his sophomore year and 25 points (15g, 10a) his junior year.

In 2010-11, Kero played for the Fargo Force and was third in scoring on the team with 37 points (14g, 23a) in 55 regular season games. He also played in five playoff games and scored one goal. Kero had a +11 rating on the season.
