Ottawa Voyageurs News Release
Ottawa, Ontario - The Ottawa Rapids of the Can-Am League have announced the signing of former Montreal Expos' farmhand Greg Bunn.
The native of Raleigh, N.C., enters his fifth professional season in 2008. Bunn split the 2007 campaign between the Washington Nationals' Class-A affiliates, Hagerstown of the South Atlantic League and Potomac of the Carolina League. In 36 appearances with the two teams, all out of the bullpen, he went 3-0 with 64 strikeouts in 58.1 innings of work.
Bunn had also spent the previous three seasons in the Washington/Montreal system after being chosen by the Expos in the fifth round of the 2004 draft out of East Carolina University. In 241 career professional innings, the 25-year-old righthander has 243 strikeouts.
"Greg Bunn should be a great addition to our club," Ed Nottle, Rapids manager says. "He knows how to get hitters out, and he's another pitcher with solid professional experience to add to our staff."
The Rapids open their 2008 season at home on May 22 at 7:05 p.m. against New Jersey. For season and single-game ticket information, contact the club's office at (613) 747-5969.
