Former Black Bears, Mollica & Takacs, Win 2022 'Robby'

"The Robertson Cup is awarded to the national playoff champion of the North American Hockey League. The oldest junior hockey trophy in the United States, the Robertson Cup is named in honor of Chuck Robertson, a pioneer of junior hockey in the NAHL and youth hockey in the state of Michigan. Fogerty Arena in Blaine, MN was the site of the 2022 Robertson Cup Finals this past Tuesday. The New Jersey Titans, fellow East Division combatants, battled the Anchorage Wolverines for glory. Led by their star goal tender, Andrew Takacs, and defenseman, Anthony Mollica, the New Jersey Titans were able to win the final game of the season by a score of 3-0. Former Black Bear net minder, Takacs, pitched a shutout in his final game of Junior Hockey.

Andrew Takacs spent the 2019-2020 season in net at Piney Orchard Ice Arena, where he played 25 games finishing with a 9-11-4 record, good for a 3.15 GAA and 0.899 SV%. Anthony Mollica was also cutting up the ice in Odenton the same season, where he spent 21 games helping the Bowie, MD native goal tender keep pucks out of the net. Mollica finished his time in Maryland having played 21 games, good for 3 goals and 4 assists. While they didn't bring home the 'Robby' for the Black Bear Nation faithful, we are always glad to see our former players continue to excel in the sport of Hockey and life!
