Hamilton, ON - - Forge FC lost its first game of the 2023 Canadian Premier League campaign 1-2 in the 905 Derby to York United FC. The match was closely contested with chances coming on both ends, York United opened the scoring in the 53rd minute after a cross from Ricci was deflected into Forge FC's own goal by Hojabrpour. Forge FC battled back to tie the match in the 76th minute with a goal from Campbell but would fall to a late winner in the 90+3 when Soumaoro struck the ball from 35 yards out stunning everyone in attendance.
Forge FC remains in first place in the Canadian Premier League with a total of 15 points.
KEY POINTS:
Terran Campbell - Scored his second goal of the season making him the joint club top goal scorer this season alongside Jordan Hamilton and Woobens Pacius.
Kyle Bekker - Assisted Forge FC's lone goal from Terran Campbell making him the club's top assist leader on the season with 2 and giving him a total of 16 assists all-time with Forge FC.
Triston Henry - Saved a penalty in the 11th minute.
Forge FC had an expected goal rating of 2.06 compared to York United FC's 1.13.
