The Pittsfield Suns prevail in a close matchup for their second straight win against the Seacoast, edging the Mavericks 7-6 in a morning game that started at 11 AM with multiple local elementary school children coming to witness Suns baseball.

The starting pitcher for the Suns was lefty Tom Darby and the Mavericks gave Costas Tingas the nod. The Mavericks started early in the 1st with an RBI single from Casey Cotter, who would later score on an error. But the Suns would call and raise in the bottom half, scoring four runs highlighted by Jimmy Ricoy's two RBI double. With the 4-2 lead, Pittsfield also got an insurance run in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single from Ryan Deitrich.

But the Seacoast Mavericks would chip away that lead. In the 3rd, Greg Wilson hit a two RBI base knock. 5-4 Suns in the 5th, Anyelo Roman smashed a two RBI double to right-center field to give the Mavericks a 6-5 lead.

However, the Suns would show their own rally. In the 6th, Anthony Corona cracked an RBI triple into deep center field. Now tied 6-6 and in the 7th, Alex Davison continued to be a threat on the base paths. He stole second, and as he later stole third, the catcher threw it into left field, so Davison advanced on the error on what would be a game winning run across the plate.

The winning pitcher was Matt Timoney, who pitched tremendously in relief; retiring as many as seven batters in a row in three innings of work. The losing pitcher was Dakota Irwin, and recording the save was Adam Krebs. The player of the game is Alex Davison, who went 1 for 2 with two walks, three stolen bases, and two runs. Next time out for Pittsfield will be in Wachusett tomorrow as the Suns takes on the 2-4 Dirt Dawgs will a scheduled first pitch at 6:35 PM.
