Sioux Falls, SD (December 17, 2005) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Idaho Stampede tonight 108-96 (6, 1) to move to 8-5 on the season. Rodney Buford had another big night as he led all scorers with 24 points. With a loss by Dakota earlier in the day to Rockford, the âForce is tied for second in the Western Conference with a 4.1 quarter-points average. The Stampede dropped to 6-8 with the loss.
The teams traded baskets for most of the first quarter and the teams were deadlocked at 20 a piece with 3:00 to go in the opening quarter. The âForce would finish the quarter with a 12-4 run and would win the first quarter 32-24 behind 13 points from Brandon Hunter. The âForce would push the lead to as many as 18 points (50-32) and eventually won the second quarter 30-26 behind eight points from Buford. The âForce led 62-50 at halftime as they shot an impressive 60% (25-for-42) from the field in the first half. The âForce would build on the already commanding lead and had their largest lead of the game at 23 points (89-66) after three quarters. The âForce won the third quarter behind 12 points from Noel Felix. The Stampede would not go down without a fight as they would cut the deficit to single digits (98-89) with 3:38 to play in the game. That would be as close as they would get as the Stampede did come away with a single quarter-point by winning the fourth 30-19.
The Skyforce's next game is on Monday, December 19th, on the road against the Albany Patroons. Tip-off is set for 6:35 pm CST at the newly renovated Washington Avenue Armory.
