Cleveland Force News Release

With the win on Sunday night, the Force posted its first season opening win since the 1996-97 season when the Cleveland franchise defeated the Toronto Thunderhawks 18-7 at the Convocation Center. The win also marked the first time the team has posted a season opening win on the road since the 1991-92 season when the Crunch defeated St. Louis 8-7.

FORCE STREAKS:

Cleveland defender Hector Marinaro will look to continue his scoring streak this week as he has scored at least a point in 58 straight games and 87 of the last 88 games. He has also tallied a point in 196 of the last 199 games.

Forward Ato Leone has now appeared in 37 straight games. Leone played in all 36 games for the Harrisburg Heat a year ago.

BIG SPLASH:

Force rookie forward Adauto Neto shined in Cleveland's 6-5 win over Dallas on Sunday night. The 22-year old led the team in scoring with a goal and two assists in his MISL debut. Neto showcased his foot skills as he dribbled around three Dallas defenders to secure his first career MISL assist and point. Adauto followed the assist up with his first goal as he dribbled around the Sidekicks goalkeeper in another phenomenal dribbling display. Neto concluded his night by lofting a pass that Lee Edgerton volleyed into the back of the net to give Adauto his second assist of the game. Neto recorded his three points as he made his presence felt in the third quarter when the Force used a 3-0 run in the period to regain the lead. Neto was selected Tops Sensational Player of the Game.

HOW THE WEST WAS WON:

The Cleveland Force will look to take an early 2-0 advantage against MISL Western Conference opponents this weekend when it travels to take on the San Diego Sockers. The game between the Force and Sockers will mark the second of 12 games between the Force and Western Conference opponents. Cleveland will face the Monterrey Fury, the third team of the Western Conference, for the fist time at home on November 21. The Force plays four of its first five games versus Western Conference opponents on the road.

Last season, Cleveland was 10-8 in 18 games versus Western Conference opponents, which was comprised of the Dallas Sidekicks (3-1), Kansas City Comets (1-3), Milwaukee Wave (1-4) and San Diego Sockers (5-0). The Force was 4-3 on the road a year ago versus the West.
