
Force Turns Up Heat In First Game Of Weekend Action

CLEVELAND, OHIO â The Cleveland Force played host to the Harrisburg Heat and defeated the Heat, 13-12, in a Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Eastern Conference game tonight at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University. With the victory, Cleveland improved to 10-8 overall, 4-5 versus Eastern Conference opponents and 6-1 at home. With the loss, Harrisburg fell to 9-12 overall, 2-1 in the season series and 2-7 on the road. The win also moves the Force to 5.0 games out of first place behind the idle Philadelphia KiXX and 2.5 games ahead of the Heat for second place in the Eastern Conference.
Harrisburg opened the scoring (0-2) when Ato Leone scored a two-point goal off the pass from David Bascome at 4:47 of the first quarter. Cleveland tied the game (2-2) when Kiley Couch found the back of the net off the cross from Lee Edgerton at 9:19. The Force took its first lead of the game (4-2) when Myles Stoddard scored a two-point goal off the second assist of the game for Edgerton at 13:13. The Heat tied the game for the second time in the quarter (4-4) when Leone scored his second goal of the game of the pass from Chikis Lopez at 13:56.
Cleveland regained the lead (7-4) when John Ball scored an unassisted three-point goal at 5:55 of the second quarter. The Force added to their lead (9-4) when Stoddard scored his second goal of the game at 10:37. Harrisburg cut into the lead (9-6) when Bascome scored a two-point goal off the pass from Chris Morman at 11:00.
The Heat cut the lead (9-8) when Leone picked up the hat trick as Cleveland scored an own goal just 54 seconds into the third quarter. The Force added to its lead (11-8) when Giuliano Oliviero scored a two-point goal off the pass from Couch at 10:40. With the goal, Oliviero recorded his 700th career point.
Harrisburg cut the lead (11-10) when Chikis Lopez scored an uassisted two-point goal at 5:43 of the final quarter. The Heat took its second lead of the game (12-11) when Marco Coria scored a two-point goal off the assist from Leone at 9:17. Cleveland won the game (13-12) when Ball scored his second goal of the game and the game-winner off a pass from Joe Mattacchione at 14:26 of the final quarter.
