Georgia Force News Release
FLOWERY BRANCH, GA - Georgia has announced the re-signing of five-year AFL veteran OL/DL Jermaine Smith. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Smith started all 16 games in 2006 and recorded 16 tackles, six sacks, eight pass defenses, two forced fumbles and three blocked kicks. Smith was selected to the AFL's All-Arena first-team for his performance in 2006. His selection marked the third time in five seasons that he has been named to the All-Arena first-team. Smith's six sacks set a new franchise-high for sacks in a single season, surpassing the previous mark of 5.5 set by Smith in 2003.
Smith is prepared to help the Force return to the ArenaBowl.
"I am ecstatic to be staying home with the Force", said Smith. "I am surrounded by the best coaching staff in the league and I love playing for them. The only thing left for us to do, is win a championship, which we will be looking to accomplish in 2007."
