
Force Midfielder Assists On Game-Winner

Cleveland Force and Charleston Battery midfielder Justin Evans tallied up one more assist this weekend as the Battery defeated the Virginia Beach Mariners by a final score of 2-1.
The game was at a deadlock until the sixteenth minute of the game when Charleston teammate scored on a free-kick for a 1-0 lead. Virginia Beach evened the game at 1-1 in the 33rd minute. Finally in the 72nd minute of the game, Evans strategically placed a diagonal pass behind the defense to assist teammate Jason Kutney to score the final goal of the game. This is Evans' third assist on the season. With the 2-1 win, the Battery improves to 5-15-6 and raises to eighth place in the Eastern Conference of the A-League.
Evans has been a solid player for the Battery all season with 34 shots and three points. Last year for the Force, Evans twenty goals and seven assists for a strong 27 point season.
On Wednesday, August 25, Evans and the Battery will face off against the Chicago Fire in the US Open Cup semi-final. The game will be played in Naperville, IL with an 8:30 PM kick-off.
